Tajiks account for half of those granted Russian citizenship in 2023

In January-March 2023, more than 106,000 foreign citizens received Russian citizenship, most of whom are residents of Tajikistan.

The decision to grant Russian citizenship was made in respect of 44,800 citizens of Tajikistan. In second place were the natives of Ukraine (22,000 citizenship decisions), Interfax reports, citing the Russian Interior Ministry.

In addition, in the first quarter, 8,900 natives of Armenia, 6,900 natives of Kazakhstan, 5,400 of Kyrgyzstan, 4,600 of Uzbekistan, 3,700 of Azerbaijan, 3,000 of Moldova, 2,300 - Belarus and 912 from Turkmenistan received Russian citizenship.
