Pashinyan reaffirms peace path, calls Karabakh debate “closed”
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that the “Karabakh issue is closed,” warning that displays of “Karabakh flags” in parliament by opposition lawmakers could amount to a threat of renewed conflict with Azerbaijan.
Pashinyan made the remarks during a government question-and-answer session in parliament, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“The presence of ‘Karabakh flags’ in our parliament is a threat of war. They are opening this discussion, provoking it. The Karabakh issue is closed,” he said. “The opposition is creating a threat to peace.”
“And we must make efforts to ensure that the situation is not destabilized. We continue to develop peace on an institutional level,” Pashinyan added.
The Armenian prime minister also reiterated his readiness to travel to Baku in 2027 to attend a European Political Community summit, “if there is an invitation.”
