Armenia hosts major peacekeeping exercises with Western allies PHOTO
The official launch of the Eagle Partner 2026 military exercises, involving contingents from Armenia, Greece, the United States, and France, has taken place at the "Zar" training centre in Armenia.
The drills will continue until June 25, Armenia’s Ministry of Defence said.
The defence ministry said the exercises include servicemen from the peacekeeping brigade of the Armed Forces of Armenia, the US Army Europe and Africa, the Kansas Army National Guard, as well as the armed forces of France and Greece.
“The main objectives of the exercises are to improve the level of interoperability of units participating in international peacekeeping missions within the framework of peace operations; to exchange advanced experience in management and tactical communications; and to strengthen the combat readiness of the peacekeeping unit of the Republic of Armenia,” the ministry said.
A statement from the US Embassy in Yerevan noted that this is the fourth annual iteration of the exercises, based on long-standing Armenian-American defence cooperation and aimed at preparing forces for international peacekeeping missions.
Through joint multilateral training, Eagle Partner 2026 strengthens interoperability, supports the exchange of best practices, and enhances peacekeeping readiness,” the US Embassy in Armenia said in a Facebook post.
