Tatarstan one of Azerbaijan’s 10 main trade partners, says deputy PM

Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev has said that Tatarstan holds a leading position, being one of the country's 10 economic partners.

He made the statement at the Azerbaijan-Tatarstan business forum in Baku on November 29, which was attended by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Report informs citing Tatarstan's presidential press service.

“Azerbaijani-Russian relations are of a strategic nature and cover all spheres of activity thanks to the political will of the leaders of our countries. Interregional ties are a priority for us. Tatarstan is among the 10 main trading partners. We expect that our trade turnover will grow by many times by the end of this year,” Mustafayev said.

The meeting brought together representatives of big industrial enterprises, as well as businesses of the two sides, the report adds.

“There is a great potential for expanding cooperation between our countries in the field of supplies of oil and engineering products of Tatarstan, development of ties in the investment, innovation and production sectors, in the field of high technologies, shipbuilding and automotive industry, healthcare, the production of medical products and pharmaceuticals, cooperation of trade-industrial chambers,” Minnikhanov said, addressing the forum participants.

He also thanked the Azerbaijani leadership for its personal involvement in strengthening cooperation.

A number of agreements were signed in the presence of leaders at the end of the forum.

The first document was signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Azerbaijan Small and Medium Business Development Agency.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tatarstan also signed an agreement with Azerbaijan's Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
