Tehran, Baku eye expansion of bilateral energy cooperation

12 February 2026 15:53

Azerbaijan and Iran have held discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation in the energy sector, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy stated.

The talks took place in Baku during a meeting between Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Iran’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilou, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

“The sides exchanged views on jointly implemented energy projects, their current progress, and future development prospects,” the ministry said.

Officials also highlighted that the upcoming session of the State Commission on Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran, covering economic, trade, and humanitarian matters, will be held in Baku in the coming days. The session is expected to play a key role in accelerating the implementation of ongoing bilateral energy initiatives.
