TF1: French police arrest two more over bomb plot near US bank branch
French police have detained two more people in connection with the investigation into an attempted bombing with an improvised device near a building in central Paris housing the office of the American bank Bank of America, as reported by the TV channel TF1.
According to the report, the arrests took place on Sunday night. The role of the detainees in the case has not been disclosed.
On the night of March 26 to 27, police arrested a 17-year-old teenager as he tried to detonate an improvised explosive device near the building where Bank of America’s office is located. He was accompanied by an accomplice who managed to escape the scene.
During questioning, the arrested teen admitted that they had been hired by an unknown person who promised a reward of €600. The investigation into the incident has been taken over by France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT) and the General Directorate for Internal Security (DGSI, domestic intelligence). The teenager’s detention has been extended.
