Top Turkish, Iraqi, French diplomats warn of wider crisis over Iran-Israel standoff
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein have held urgent phone talks as concerns mount over the escalating confrontation between Iran and Israel.
The two officials discussed the deepening crisis between Iran and Israel, focusing on the potential fallout for neighbouring countries and the broader Middle East, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
In a separate conversation, Fuad Hussein also spoke with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot. The ministers shared serious concerns over the direction of the conflict and the risks of further escalation.
Hussein and Barrot stressed the urgency of coordinated international action to halt military operations by all parties involved. They warned that failure to do so could spark “broader international crises, both economic and humanitarian.”
The two ministers underscored the importance of preventing the conflict from widening to include other regional or global actors. “Such a development would pose a serious threat to international security and stability,” they said in a joint statement.
Tensions between Iran and Israel have surged in recent days following Israeli airstrikes on key Iranian military and nuclear sites. Iran has responded with retaliatory drone and missile attacks, prompting fears of a wider regional war.
