Trump calls green energy push “the greatest con job”
US President Donald Trump delivered a fiery speech at the United Nations on September 23, using the platform to criticise global climate initiatives and mock long-standing environmental warnings.
Returning to the UN General Assembly, Trump outlined his foreign policy record while taking aim at what he called the “green scam," Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Urging European nations to abandon their green energy commitments, Trump dismissed decades of climate science.
“In decades past, some experts predicted that by the year 2000 climate change will cause a global catastrophe,” he said, adding that scientists had warned some nations might be “wiped off the map” by now—but insisted that’s “not happening.”
Trump doubled down on his position, declaring climate action efforts to be deceptive.
“It was the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world in my opinion,” he said.
“All of these predictions were wrong,” Trump continued. “Made by stupid people,” he added, warning, “If you don’t get away from this green scam, your country is going to fail.”
