Trump urges UK to abandon “unsightly” wind power in favor of oil
US President Donald Trump has called on the United Kingdom to shift its energy focus away from wind power and instead prioritize the modernization of oil production in the North Sea.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump described wind turbines as “expensive and unsightly,” while characterizing North Sea oil as a more practical and strategic energy resource, Caliber.Az reports.
Trump praised the broader energy and trade relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom, calling it mutually beneficial. However, he criticized the UK's growing reliance on wind energy, which he has previously dismissed on multiple occasions during his political career.
“Our negotiated deal with the United Kingdom is working out well for all. I strongly recommend to them, however, that in order to get their energy costs down, they stop with the costly and unsightly windmills, and incentivize modernized drilling in the North Sea, where large amounts of oil lay waiting to be taken. A century of drilling left, with Aberdeen as the hub. The old fashioned tax system disincentivizes drilling, rather than the opposite. UK’s energy costs would go way down, and fast!” Trump posted.
