Turkic engineering union chief praises Azerbaijani Karabakh's transformation
The reconstruction of Karabakh represents a success not only for Azerbaijan but for the entire Turkic world, with the engineering expertise gained from the effort providing a valuable foundation for future development projects across Turkic states, Secretary General of the Union of Engineers and Architects of the Turkic World Ilyas Demirci, has said in an interview with AZERTAC.
Speaking in an interview with AZERTAC, Demirci, who is also a member of the NGO Platform of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), described the large-scale rebuilding efforts in Karabakh as a model that blends cultural heritage with modern urban planning.
"We view the reconstruction efforts in Karabakh as a model of development that successfully combines national and cultural identity with modern urban planning principles. In a very short period of time, remarkable progress has been achieved—from transport infrastructure and energy projects to smart villages and the construction of new settlements," he said.
Demirci stressed that the experience gained from the reconstruction process could serve as a benchmark for similar initiatives throughout the Turkic world.
He also underlined the importance of deepening cooperation among Turkic states through the development of common urban planning standards, the establishment of joint engineering and design teams, expanded academic research, exchange programs for young engineers and architects, and the creation of shared technical databases.
"The Union of Engineers and Architects of the Turkic World considers the institutionalization of this cooperation and the strengthening of a common engineering vision to be among its primary objectives," Demirci added.
