Turkish business leader highlights mutual investment opportunities with Azerbaijan

The year 2025 presents historic opportunities both for consolidating peace and advancing the development of the Zangezur Corridor, Erdal Bahçıvan, Chairman of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, stated during business meetings held as part of the visit of a Turkish business delegation to Baku.

According to Bahçıvan, quoted by domestic media, relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan are built on strong brotherly ties, with the economy serving as the key pillar of cooperation.

“The economy is the foundation, and industry is its cornerstone. We, as Türkiye's largest industrial organisation, have come to see Azerbaijan's investment opportunities, assess the business environment and strengthen existing ties. The goal is to turn our cooperation into real investment projects,” he said.

Bahçıvan emphasised that 2025 marks a turning point in the region’s history. “This is a year of historical opportunities — both in terms of peace affirmation and in the context of the formation of the Zangezur corridor. Azerbaijan, having passed a difficult path, is now becoming a rising star of the region,” he noted.

He added that Azerbaijan and Türkiye have the potential to significantly increase trade turnover by implementing joint strategies targeting third countries.

Highlighting the ambitions of the two nations’ leaders, Bakhchivan pointed out the goal of raising trade volume to $15 billion and expressed confidence that this target will be achieved. “These indicators will grow even more due to mutual investments and joint strategies focused on third countries,” he said.

Bahçıvan also stressed that Turkish industrialists and investors should actively leverage the opportunities offered by the region.

“It is not only about Turkish investments in Azerbaijan, but also about the possibility for Azerbaijani partners to realise projects in Türkiye. The main thing is to understand what we can do together and how to develop cooperation in third countries, because the economies of our countries have very valuable resources and opportunities that complement each other,” he added.
