Turkish leader names those responsible for disrupting Ukraine peace talks
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that certain forces are to blame for disrupting peace negotiations regarding Ukraine in 2022, as they were not interested in a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
President Erdogan emphasised that Türkiye has consistently made and continues making efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine through diplomatic means, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
He highlighted that the negotiations held in Istanbul underscored Ankara's important role in this process.
"However, certain lobbies did not want these efforts to succeed. However, we are doing and will do everything possible to end the war and prevent further destruction," the Turkish president stated.
Previously, Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus stated that some countries were unwilling to see the conflict between Russia and Ukraine come to an end when there was an opportunity to resolve the issue in Istanbul in 2022.
The diplomat emphasised that during that period, the sides were close to reaching conditions for a "just and balanced peace."
