Turkish MP: Zangezur corridor vital for regional countries and China
Shamil Ayrim, head of the Turkish-Azerbaijani inter-parliamentary friendship group emphasised the urgency surrounding the opening of the Zangezur corridor in light of the escalating global economic crisis.
Turkish MP told local media that this strategic corridor holds immense significance not only for the countries within the region but also for China, Caliber.Az reports.
Ayrim elaborated on the substantial efforts undertaken by Azerbaijan following its victory in the 44-day war. He noted that Azerbaijan has made significant advancements in the development of the Zangezur corridor, with railway construction now approaching completion.
"The opening of the Zangezur corridor will serve as a pivotal development, fostering enhanced trade, economic growth, industrial collaboration, technological advancement, and medical service exchange between Azerbaijan and Türkiye," Ayrim remarked. "Moreover, it will have a profound impact on the entire Turkic world."
Ayrim underscored the broader geopolitical implications of the corridor, stating that it is not only a regional asset but also a critical component of China's Belt and Road Initiative.
