Turkish president blames NATO for inadequate support for fight against terrorism
23 May 2022 16:10
Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has said that Turkiye expects NATO to take concrete steps instead of useless statements to address its concern about Sweden and Finland possible joining NATO.
“We have not received adequate support from NATO partners in the fight against terrorism. We expect NATO to take concrete steps to address concern [over Sweden and Finland joining NATO] rather than making useless statements," TASS quotes the Turkish president as saying.
"We cannot turn a blind eye to the sanctions that Sweden has imposed against us. These actions cannot be explained. As our role in NATO is clear, we are still discussing the lifting of sanctions with our allies,” he added.
