Türkiye issues “yellow” weather alert over heavy rain
Türkiye has issued a “yellow” weather alert across 30 provinces due to expected heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, the Turkish Meteorological Service said.
Authorities warned that rain and storm activity are forecast in multiple regions, including inland areas of the Aegean and Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, and several provinces such as Çanakkale, Adana, Osmaniye, Çorum, Tokat, and western Hatay, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
Forecasters said precipitation could be particularly heavy in some locations, raising the risk of flooding and other weather-related hazards.
A “yellow” alert—indicating potentially hazardous conditions—has been issued for provinces including Ankara, Antalya, Izmir, Konya, Adana, Mersin, Kayseri, Edirne, and Çanakkale.
Residents and emergency services have been urged to take precautions against possible flash floods, landslides, lightning strikes, hail, strong winds, and disruptions to transportation. Officials also warned that tornado formation cannot be ruled out in the southern parts of the country.
The meteorological service said it is continuing to monitor weather conditions as the system develops.
