Türkiye presents unmanned armoured vehicle ALPAR PHOTO/VIDEO
Turkish company Otokar has demonstrated the ALPAR crawler-based unmanned ground vehicle of heavy class. This tracked drone will be useful to the military for various kinds of combat tasks: from destroying the enemy to delivering ammunition.
ALPAR was developed by Otokar as an unmanned platform that can perform missions alongside manned and unmanned elements on the battlefield to meet the armed forces' need for robotic and unmanned ground vehicles, Caliber.Az reports, citing SavunmaSanayiST.com’s Twitter page.

The vehicle, with a maximum loaded weight of 15 tons, aims to address the following challenges with its autonomous and artificial intelligence systems:
- Reducing the risk of personnel on the battlefield;
- Increasing mission success by reducing the number of personnel in the field using Artificial Intelligence and data analytics;
- Increasing effectiveness on the battlefield by communicating with drones and other elements on the battlefield.
ALPAR, an unmanned heavy ground vehicle, is a first for the Turkish defence industry. The vehicle, which has a serial hybrid electric drive infrastructure and can operate completely silently, has the capability to operate autonomously and remotely.
ALPAR features a low thermal footprint, which will help the robotic platform remain undetectable to enemy EW systems for as long as possible. Alpar also has the ability to be transported in an airplane (helicopter) and quickly replace the battery pack.
In addition, ALPAR expands its mission capabilities with a mini-unmanned ground vehicle that it can carry in its body.
General Manager Gergüç Otokar noted that ALPAR has a modular design suitable for missions such as reconnaissance and surveillance, as well as for various missions such as infantry fire support vehicle, logistics vehicle, air defence vehicle or anti-tank vehicle.
ALPAR Specifications:
- - Weight 12 tons;
- - Payload 3 tons;
- - Maximum speed 70 km/h;
- - Range: 500 km with hybrid drive, 50 km with electric drive;
- - 30 mm cannon integrated into MIZRAK turret;
- - 2 units of OMTAS ATGMs.
ALPAR Core Responsibilities:
- Ability to act as a primary or wing element with manned vehicles and/or infantry;
- Obstacle detection in hazardous areas, surveillance and reconnaissance in populated areas, route detection when terrain conditions change, etc. Possibility of use with UAVs;
- Suppression of enemy positions by fire;
