Türkiye’s pro-Kurdish democratic party delegation to visit PKK leader
Türkiye's pro-Turkish Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) delegation is set to make its ninth trip to Imralı Island on November 3 to meet with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The delegation's visit is focused on discussing key developments related to the ongoing "Terror-Free Türkiye" process, aimed at addressing the country's long-standing issues related to terrorism, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The delegation will include DEM Party members Mithat Sancar, Pervin Buldan, and Özgür Faik Erol. Their visit to Imralı comes at a crucial time in Türkiye's efforts to advance the Peace and Democratic Society Process, which seeks to promote stability and reduce violence in the region.
Earlier, on October 30, members of the DEM Party, including Buldan and Sancar, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara. The meeting, which also involved senior figures such as AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala and National Intelligence Organization (MİT) Director İbrahim Kalın, lasted for about an hour.
In a statement released after the meeting, both sides emphasised their shared commitment to progressing the peace process.
