Türkiye to convey data of Greece's using anti-aircraft system to NATO
The Turkish Ministry of National Defence will unveil records testifying to the use of the Greek S-300PMU1 air defence system against Turkish aircraft.
The National Defence Ministry assured that the Turkish radar system tracked the activation of the Greek S-300 system when the Turkish aircraft flew within its reach, according to CNN Turk.
Corresponding records will be sent to the NATO General Secretariat and the defence ministries of the NATO member states.
The Turkish national defence ministry claims that when the F-16 fighter jets were flying over Rhodes island, Greece’s S-300 activated the target tracking and guidance system for surface-to-air missiles, and also unlock the trigger mechanism. Proceeding from NATO rules, such measures are considered “hostile behaviour”.
Earlier, Turkish National Defence Minister Hulusi Akar commented on the accusations made by Ankara against Greece because the Greek military used the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system against the F-16 aircraft of the Turkish Air Force.
While discussing the incident, Akar said that the use of air defence systems against fighter jets was reckless.
