Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan ports boost cooperation on cargo traffic control
The international seaports of Turkmenbashi in Turkmenistan and Alat in Azerbaijan held a joint practical training session on information exchange in maritime transport, aimed at improving cargo flow control and strengthening cooperation between port authorities in the region.
According to the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, the training brought together port control teams from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The event focused on expanding international cargo traffic in the Caspian Sea, combating the illicit movement of goods and reducing associated risks.
Participants also worked to improve specialists’ professional skills, facilitate the prompt exchange of information and enhance direct cooperation between the Turkmenbashi and Alat ports.
Participants shared practical experience and jointly practised analysing shipping documents and conducting customs inspections of cargo and vehicles.
