UAE suspends all trade, financial ties with Iran
The United Arab Emirates has suspended all trade, commercial exchanges and financial transactions with Iran until further notice, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, as regional tensions continue to escalate.
Afra Al Hameli, Director of the Strategic Communications Department at the UAE Foreign Ministry, said the measures were introduced in response to regional developments that threaten regional and international peace and security.
“The UAE has suspended all trade, commercial exchanges and financial transactions with Iran until further notice,” Al Hameli said.
She also rejected allegations concerning the current state of economic relations between the UAE and Iran, while reaffirming Abu Dhabi’s commitment to dialogue, cooperation and regional integration as key pillars for promoting peace, stability and prosperity.
Al Hameli said the UAE remains committed to protecting the integrity of the international financial system, complying with international law and adhering to global standards. The country will also continue supporting measures aimed at safeguarding regional and international financial stability, she added.
The UAE has separately and categorically denied reports by certain international media outlets alleging that funds had been transferred from the UAE to Iran, including claims involving $3 billion.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry described the allegations as “entirely false and unfounded,” stressing that no frozen Iranian funds had been released, transferred or facilitated through the UAE.
The ministry urged media outlets to ensure accuracy, rely on official sources and refrain from publishing or circulating unverified information and unfounded allegations.
