UK Chamber ready to channel £5 billion into Azerbaijan projects, trade attaché says
The British Chamber of Commerce has the potential to mobilise up to £5 billion in financing for projects across various sectors of Azerbaijan’s economy, a UK trade official said on February 24.
Speaking at a roundtable in Baku titled “Water Security in Azerbaijan: Regulation, Risks and Responsible Business Conduct”, Elvin Raziyev, Trade Attaché for Infrastructure and Third Country Cooperation at the Embassy of the United Kingdom, said the Chamber is prepared to support large-scale investment initiatives in the country, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
According to him, at the global level, the Chamber has financed major projects focused on the modernisation of water treatment facilities, infrastructure upgrades and the implementation of national clean water programmes. Similar mechanisms, he noted, could be applied in Azerbaijan.
“The United Kingdom offers not only expertise and technology, but also tangible financial instruments. The Chamber’s market potential for Azerbaijan amounts to £5 billion. This is a substantial resource for financing concrete projects,” Raziyev said.
He added that the water sector is viewed as one of the priority areas for bilateral cooperation, particularly in light of increasing attention to water security, regulatory frameworks and responsible business practices.
