UK company to launch gold mining in Azerbaijan
Anglo Asian Mining Plc plans to put into operation three contract zones in Azerbaijan, namely, Garadagh, Kharkhar and Demirli, over the next three to four years.
The company has already started the exploration of the Vezhnali gold deposit in Azerbaijan's Zangilan District, Finance director of Anglo Asian Mining Ilham Khalilov told Trend.
"A corresponding four-year programme has been presented to the Azerbaijani government within this field. The exploration work will be carried out in parallel with the demining of territories," he noted.
He also said that Anglo Asian Mining mainly operates in the Gadabay district, and it is planned to put into operation a new Zafar field in Gadabay in 2023.
"We have been producing gold in this field since 2009, while copper concentrate since 2010. Moreover, we plan to commission the Zafar field. We are developing new deposits in Zangilan. It is worth emphasising that the deposits here, like other liberated territories, are full of mines, so the exploration process is carried out in stages," Khalilov said.
He added that the company produces and exports gold bars and copper concentrate in Azerbaijan. Gold is mainly exported to Switzerland, while copper is exported to Georgia, Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
