UK sets up support systems to evacuate citizens from Persian Gulf

The United Kingdom is establishing support systems to evacuate its citizens from the Persian Gulf and deploying rapid-response teams to the region, Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said on March 2.

Speaking to Sky News, Cooper said that the government is working with the travel industry and exploring evacuation options if necessary. She noted that around 300,000 British nationals reside in the region, Iran International reports.

Cooper added that the UK aims to reopen airspace and is coordinating with partners to ensure safe departures.
