South Korea considers resuming Russian oil purchases
02 April 2026 11:30
Amid Middle East tensions, South Korean authorities are evaluating the possibility of restoring oil imports from Russia, Park Jong-ho, head of the Korea-Russia Business Council, said at the first International Transport and Logistics Forum.
He emphasised that South Korea currently faces a critical issue with oil supplies, according to Russian media.
“Geopolitical tensions are severe, and with the Strait of Hormuz blocked, oil deliveries to Asia, including Korea, have been suspended. Consequently, the government and companies are seriously considering resuming purchases of Russian oil,” he stated.
