UKMTO: British ship attacked near Yemeni Port of Hodeidah
Another maritime attack occurred 64 nautical miles northwest of the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah, according to a report by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Coordination Center (UKMTO), part of the British Navy.
"UKMTO received a report of an incident 64 nautical miles northwest of Hodeidah," the statement read, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The Iran-aligned Houthis in Yemen have launched attacks on global shipping since November, claiming solidarity with Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas.
The UKMTO has urged ships operating in the area to exercise heightened caution and report any suspicious activity to avoid further incidents. The specific nature of the attack or the parties involved remains unclear, and further details are expected as investigations unfold.
The waters off the coast of Yemen have seen increased tensions in recent years, with several maritime security threats due to the ongoing conflict in the region. Shipping crews in the vicinity are advised to remain vigilant and adhere to safety protocols.
