UN forum spotlights Azerbaijan's sustainable development model

Azerbaijan has showcased its experience in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the 2026 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), held in New York under the auspices of the United Nations.

The forum focused on global challenges surrounding the implementation of the SDGs, assessed progress made so far, and explored ways to strengthen international cooperation to accelerate achievement of the global development agenda, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

Representing Azerbaijan, Huseyn Huseynov, Adviser to the Minister of Economy and Secretary of the National Coordination Council on Sustainable Development, outlined the country's efforts to integrate and localize the Sustainable Development Goals within its national development priorities.

Huseynov also highlighted Azerbaijan's initiatives to strengthen cooperation among government institutions, the private sector, civil society, academia, and international partners, sharing the country's experience in advancing sustainable development through multi-stakeholder collaboration.

In addition, he presented Azerbaijan's experience during a thematic session examining the challenges of implementing the Sustainable Development Goals in African countries, Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and middle-income countries.
