UN-Habitat chief thanks Azerbaijan for leadership at WUF13 in Baku
The Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), Anacláudia Rossbach, has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its leadership in organising intergovernmental work on housing and sustainable development.
Her message was delivered by Rafael Tuts, Director of the organisation’s Global Solutions Division, during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
She said, “First and foremost, I would like to thank the co-chairs — Azerbaijan and Somalia — for their leadership in convening this session.”
The statement also welcomed participants joining the meeting both in person and online from different time zones.
Rossbach noted that the current meeting is taking place at a critical moment, as the housing sector has become central to several global crises.
She emphasised that decisions taken today in housing construction, modernisation, and planning will shape future developments in the sector.
