UN-Habitat praises Azerbaijan’s role in hosting WUF13 amid global crises
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for hosting the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, highlighting the importance of global cooperation at a time of mounting international crises and rapid urban change.
UN-Habitat Executive Director Anaclaudia Rossbach made the remarks during a press conference marking the opening of WUF13 in the Azerbaijani capital, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
She said the forum is taking place at a pivotal moment for cities and communities, when the scale of current challenges requires faster, more coordinated and more inclusive responses.
"We are gathered here in Baku at the invitation of the Government of Azerbaijan, at a time when the future of cities is being shaped by both crises and new opportunities," Rossbach said.
She also underlined UN-Habitat’s appreciation for Azerbaijan’s role in organising the event and supporting global dialogue on sustainable urban development.
"We are grateful to Azerbaijan for its leadership in organising this global platform and for its commitment to advancing dialogue and cooperation on sustainable urban development," added the UN-Habitat executive director.
Rossbach noted that hosting the forum in Baku reflects Azerbaijan’s growing role in fostering international cooperation on urban development and strengthening ties between regions in addressing shared challenges.
