UN official commends Azerbaijan's environmental commitment Speaking at conf on mine action
UN Assistant Secretary-General for Rule of Law and Security Institutions in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Alexander Zuev, conveyed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its dedication to environmental protection during his video message to participants of the III International Conference on Mine Action.
According to Report, Zuev thanked the Azerbaijani government for its efforts to protect the environment, particularly the initiative to add demining to the UN agenda as the 18th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
"Azerbaijan's chairmanship of COP29 demonstrates the country's commitment to take an active part in the fight against climate change. I highly appreciate the work done under the leadership of the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Vladanka Andreeva. I call for joint efforts for a greener future," he said.
He also emphasised that the updated international mine action standards will be published soon.
