USAID backs women's entrepreneurship development in Azerbaijan

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) supports the development of women's entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan.

USAID, with input from the Steering Committee, developed the "Women's National Business Agenda (WNBA)" which includes a series of reforms to advance the goals of inclusive economic growth and women's economic empowerment, Report informs, citing USAID Azerbaijan.

The WNBA offers specific recommendations and policy solutions in three areas to create a better business environment for women and remove the barriers they face in the workplace: supporting women in entrepreneurship, in the labour market, and developing gender-responsive support mechanisms.

"Women are an important agent of change. Harnessing the potential of women entrepreneurs will be crucial for Azerbaijan’s sustainable and inclusive development. Supporting women entrepreneurs is important not only socially but also economically. Achieving greater gender equality is particularly important for improving the labour market. Entrepreneurship is also a clear opportunity to increase women's economic independence," said USAID Mission Director in Azerbaijan Michael Nehrbass.
