Uzbek official flags equipment shortfall in Trans-Caspian route

03 June 2026 18:16

The primary challenge facing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor, is a shortage of containers and railway platforms, Mirziyod Mirkhomidov, Chairman of the Board of Uztimiryulcontainer, said during the 2nd Caspian International Transport, Transit and Logistics Forum in Baku.

Mirkhomidov noted that Uzbekistan is currently experiencing economic growth, with significant volumes of export cargo being transported to Türkiye and Europe, particularly via the Port of Poti in Georgia, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

“Our company is currently working on expanding its container fleet and increasing the number of railway platforms,” Mirkhamidov noted.

He expressed confidence that, as infrastructure constraints are gradually addressed, conditions will be created for further growth in cargo volumes transported along the Middle Corridor.

Mirkhomidov also emphasized the importance of continuous coordination among all participating countries and corridor partners.

“To resolve emerging issues efficiently, constant coordination among all countries and partners along the corridor is essential. We must respond promptly to difficulties as they arise and make joint decisions,” he emphasized.
