Western Azerbaijan Community condemns foreign actions against peace process
The Western Azerbaijan Community has condemned recent provocative actions in Armenia and several other countries that risk undermining efforts to normalise relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
In a statement, the community said these developments came despite a positive atmosphere surrounding the recent meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Abu Dhabi, Caliber.Az reports per state media.
The community criticised the French Senate for adopting a resolution calling for the release of war criminals responsible for horrific crimes against Azerbaijanis.
The community also expressed concern over a meeting between a member of the Swiss parliament and individuals who present themselves as the "leaders" of some fictitious entity, accompanied by statements suggesting that the Karabakh issue remained unresolved.
The statement further questioned France’s position, arguing that French lawmakers had failed to address the deportations and acts of genocide suffered by Western Azerbaijanis.
"Why is it that the parliament of France, which constantly speaks of ‘liberty, equality, fraternity," has never once expressed a position on the tragedies faced by us - Western Azerbaijanis - including deportations, genocide, and the campaign to erase all traces of the Azerbaijani people in Armenia, as well as their ancient and rich historical and cultural heritage?" the statement emphasises.
According to the community, Armenia should take concrete steps toward peace by dismantling the remaining institutions of the self-proclaimed regime on its territory and by condemning the involvement of non-regional actors that hinder the peace process.
