Western Azerbaijan Community condemns provocations of Armenian revanchist group
The Western Azerbaijan Community has condemned the provocations of the Armenian revanchist group calling themselves "crusaders".
The community condemned the action carried out in the centre of Yerevan by a group of criminals, demanding that they be given weapons in order to open the Lachin road by force, as well as their threats to commit a provocation on the border in the direction of the Lachin region of Azerbaijan, where internally displaced persons have just started to return, Caliber.Az reports, citing the organisation’s statement.
“If the international community had reacted properly to the racist actions carried out last year in Yerevan under the slogan “Armenia without Turks” by the revanchist Armenian opposition with the participation of thousands of people, then today in Armenia, perhaps, such actions would not have been repeated.
We consider unacceptable the fact that revanchists give a religious colouration to the past conflict, and we call on the international community, including the UN, its special rapporteurs, the European Union, the EU mission in Armenia, the ambassadors of countries frequenting the Lachin border checkpoint, the Council of Europe, international non-governmental organizations condemn these provocative actions, Azerbaijani phobia and xenophobia,” the statement says.
