World Bank interested in unveiling Azerbaijan’s geothermal potential
The World Bank has issued a tender for consulting services to assess Azerbaijan's geothermal potential for direct-use applications.
The Bank is looking for a consulting firm to review Azerbaijan's geothermal potential, assess the technical and economic viability of direct-use applications, and make recommendations on the next steps in developing a roadmap for future geothermal resource development and direct-use, Caliber.Az reports, citing the thinkgeoenergy.com website.
The consultants' area of work will be to examine the existing information on geothermal resources in Azerbaijan.
“The consultants will, to the extent possible with the availability of relevant data, estimate resource temperature, reservoir characteristics (size, shape, productivity, water level), and technical and economic feasibility of the resources for heating and other direct applications. The findings will be delivered in a final report and in a workshop with public officials in Azerbaijan,” the statement reads.
Applications will be accepted until 8 February 2024. More details, including the link to submit an EOI, are available on the official tender document.
