WUF13 marks official opening ceremony of Urban Expo in Baku
The official inauguration of the Urban Expo exhibition was held as part of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
The opening ceremony was attended by Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture and National Coordinator of WUF13, alongside Anacláudia Rossbach, Executive Director of UN-Habitat. They jointly performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially launching the exhibition, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Spanning an area of 35,000 square metres, the Urban Expo allocates nearly half of its space to exhibition displays. The event features representation from 260 organisations across 85 countries, hosted within 122 stands and pavilions.
Participants are distributed across several categories, including 15 academic and research institutions, 136 civil society organisations — forming the largest segment — 44 private sector entities with 14 startups among them, 41 national government pavilions, 10 state-owned companies, and 6 representatives of local and regional authorities.
The exhibition serves as a platform that brings together governments, municipalities, international organisations, researchers, innovators and business leaders to present practical approaches and partnership models aimed at advancing sustainable urban development.
