Yerevan’s city centre records hazardous air pollution levels

26 November 2025 20:25

The air quality in Yerevan’s city center has been reported as the most polluted in the capital.

Deputy Director of Armenia’s Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Centre, Gayane Shahnazaryan, made this announcement during a press conference, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

Media outlets note that in recent days, social media posts have highlighted that air pollution levels in the capital have exceeded all permissible limits, reaching a value of over 500 on the international Air Quality Index (AQI) scale.

An AQI reading of 500 is considered hazardous, indicating extremely dangerous levels of air pollution that pose serious health risks to the population.
