Zangezur Corridor potential highlighted at OTS railways meeting in Bishkek PHOTO

Participants of the third meeting of the heads of railway administrations from the member countries of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) have discussed the potential of the Zangezur Corridor. 

The meeting, which took place in Bishkek on October 30-31, included a delegation from Azerbaijan Railways CJSC led by Deputy Chairman Nijat Guliyev and focused on a range of critical topics aimed at strengthening transport links across the region, Caliber.Az reports per Azerbaijan Railways. 

The discussions centered around the Shusha Declaration of 2024 and the Gabala Declaration of 2025, which lay the groundwork for enhancing regional transport connectivity. Key issues included the development of multimodal transport along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the promotion and digitalisation of railway and port operations, and expanding the use of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line.

Participants underscored the importance of improving the efficiency of transport operations and boosting the competitiveness of transit routes within the OTS region.

Delegates also addressed the need to increase the capacity of border crossings, reform tariff policies, and enhance the overall infrastructure to facilitate smoother and more efficient movement of goods.
