Zayed Award film series featuring Baku-Yerevan peace process wins two Webby Awards

23 April 2026 10:38

The “Heartbeat of Humanity” film series produced under the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity has won two honours at the 30th annual Webby Awards, taking both the documentary film category award and the Webby People’s Voice Award.

The series was recognised for its portrayal of humanitarian initiatives linked to 2025-2026 Zayed Award laureates. Among them are films about the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, the food aid organisation World Central Kitchen, teenage inventor Heman Bekele, the Palestinian organization Taawon, and Afghan girls’ education activist Zarqa Yaftali, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media

The New York Times previously called this award “the Internet’s highest honour,” and in professional circles it is widely known as the “Internet Oscars” due to its global prestige and recognition of the best projects in the fields of websites, apps, and social media.

The Webby Awards recognise excellence in digital content and are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, which includes more than 3,000 experts. The People’s Voice Award is determined through public voting, which this year attracted more than four million participants.

The “Heartbeat of Humanity” series was selected from over 13,000 entries and reached the final shortlist in its category alongside productions from major platforms such as National Geographic, Netflix, The Washington Post, and Business Insider.

Commenting on the recognition, Secretary-General of the Zayed Award Mohamed Abdelsalam said the award reflects international appreciation for the initiative’s humanitarian mission and its role in promoting values of human fraternity. He said the recognition reinforces the award’s position as a global platform highlighting solidarity and humanitarian work.

Tim Elliott, CEO of the creative group behind the films, said the awards reflect both industry recognition and strong audience engagement worldwide.

The 30th Webby Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in New York on May 11, 2026.
