Zelenskyy meets Georgian PM for first official talks since 2021
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has held his first official meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze since 2021, on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Yerevan.
The meeting was held at the initiative of the Ukrainian side and focused on bilateral relations between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Foreign ministers from both Ukraine and Georgia also took part in the talks.
It marks the first formal contact at the leadership level between Kyiv and Tbilisi in five years.
The last such engagement took place in 2021, when then Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili visited Kyiv.
In early 2022, Ukraine recalled its ambassador from Tbilisi after Georgia declined to impose sanctions on Russia following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The Georgian government’s stance drew criticism from the domestic opposition, which accused the authorities of effectively aligning with Moscow.
