Zelenskyy meets King Charles III following tense exchange with Trump PHOTO
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with King Charles III at Sandringham House, just two days after a dramatic exchange with U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance in the Oval Office.
The meeting occurred ahead of a European summit hosted by the United Kingdom, which aims to bolster support for Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports, citing Western media outlets.
Local residents, some waving Ukrainian flags, gathered outside the estate in anticipation of Zelenskyy’s arrival. A motorcade transported the Ukrainian leader through the grounds, where he was greeted at the doorstep by King Charles III.
The royal family’s official account on X posted a photograph of the handshake between the two leaders, with the caption: “This evening, His Majesty The King received the President of Ukraine, Zelenskyy, at Sandringham House,” followed by a Ukrainian flag emoji.
Zelenskyy’s meeting with the British monarch follows an unprecedented public confrontation with Trump and Vance in the White House on February 28. The tense exchange, which was broadcast live, saw Trump and Vance reprimanding Zelenskyy and accusing him of lacking sufficient gratitude for U.S. support.
On March 1, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also met with Zelenskyy, welcoming him with an embrace and reaffirming the UK’s commitment to supporting Ukraine. Starmer emphasized that Britain would stand with Kyiv for as long as necessary.
The meeting between Zelenskyy and King Charles III comes at a critical juncture, as concerns grow over the future of U.S.-Ukraine relations following Trump’s sharp remarks. The upcoming European summit is expected to address these uncertainties and reaffirm the continent’s stance on aiding Ukraine amid the ongoing war.
