Strong earthquake jolts Uzbekistan

A powerful earthquake has rocked Uzbekistan’s capital city of Tashkent.
People fleeing residential buildings and shopping centres in the city, Gazeta.uz reports.
According to the Uzbek Seismoprognostic Monitoring Centre, the epicentre of the quake was in Afghanistan.
The magnitude of the earthquake was 6.6.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre estimates the magnitude of the tremor at 6.8.
