FM: Israel can share advanced experience, technologies with Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has said that energy cooperation occupies an important place in relations between Azerbaijan and Israel.

He made the remarks following a meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Coen in Jerusalem, Report informs.

“Azerbaijani oil makes up about 30 per cent of the oil consumed by Israel. Israel also exports a significant amount of oil products from Azerbaijan,” he said.

According to him, today Azerbaijan is working on the transition to an economy based on sustainable, renewable energy.

“Renewable energy sources will give a significant boost to our economic growth efforts. In this light, there is great potential for Israel to bring its best practices and technologies to Azerbaijan,” the minister noted, adding that Azerbaijan is very interested in attracting new technologies, innovations, intellectual property and investments based on artificial intelligence from Israel.

Bayramov stressed that Azerbaijan appreciates the interest of Israeli companies in cooperation in the implementation of the concept of "smart cities" in the liberated territories of the country, Report informs.

“After the end of the conflict, Azerbaijan launched large-scale restoration and restoration work in the liberated territories. 9 cities and hundreds of villages will be restored and reconstructed. These projects are based on the concept of "smart" cities. We appreciate the Israeli side's interest in cooperation in this area,” Bayramov said.

The Foreign Minister also thanked Israel for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, both before and during the 2020 Patriotic War.
