Azerbaijan Defence Ministry hosts meeting with NATO experts on bilateral cooperation

16 July 2025 09:05

The International Military Cooperation Department of the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry hosted a working meeting with NATO experts to discuss ongoing and future areas of bilateral collaboration.

During the meeting, representatives of the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry and NATO exchanged views on the current state of Azerbaijan–NATO cooperation, emphasising the importance of continued dialogue and mutual engagement, Caliber.Az reports via the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.

The sides also discussed progress made under key NATO frameworks, including the “Individually Tailored Partnership Programme” and the “Planning and Review Process.” These mechanisms play a vital role in aligning Azerbaijan’s defence initiatives with NATO standards and enhancing interoperability.

Azerbaijan has been cooperating with NATO since 1994, when it joined the Partnership for Peace (PfP) programme. Over the years, this partnership has evolved through political dialogue and practical cooperation across various areas, including defence reform, military education, and regional security. Azerbaijan has also contributed to NATO-led operations, such as the mission in Afghanistan.
