Azerbaijani FM hails Israel's support for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity UPDATE
Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has hailed Israel's support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence, and security of Azerbaijan for 30 years since the establishment of bilateral relations.
The minister's remarks came at the inauguration ceremony of the Azerbaijani embassy in Israel on March 29.
"Diplomatic relations between the two countries have developed over more than 30 years, Israel supported the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of Azerbaijan. This embassy plays an important role in deepening the strategic partnership between two countries and peoples," Bayramov was quoted as saying by APA.
The minister said that in the absence of an embassy, the diaspora played an important role in the deepening of relations and adequately represented Azerbaijan in Israel.
He further emphasized that the relations between the two countries go back centuries.
"The Jewish community plays an active role in the social and political life of Azerbaijan. Anti-Semitism has never been and never will be in Azerbaijan. Our political dialogue is based on mutual trust and friendship. Over the past 30 years, formal relations have turned into strategic ones," he said.
In the meantime, Bayramov said Azerbaijan's close ties with any state should not disturb third countries, adding that Baku promotes the development of friendly and partnership relations with all countries in its foreign policy.
"This primarily serves the development of these countries, peace and stability in our region", the Azerbaijani minister noted.
