Georgian, Austrian parliaments ink agreement on cooperation in democracy
Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili and his Austrian colleague Wolfgang Sobotka, who is on a working visit to Tbilisi, signed an agreement on the establishment of “democracy workshops”.
Democracy Workshops, which have been operating in the Austrian Parliament since 2007, are aimed at encouraging civic education among young people, increasing interest in politics and democratic processes, and deepening knowledge about democratic principles and parliament,” the press service of the Georgian legislative body said, according to TASS.
Sobotka arrived in Tbilisi on a working visit with the speakers of the parliaments of Slovakia and the Czech Republic on June 5. They have already held talks with Papuashvili, after which they issued joint statements to the media. As Sobotka noted, they are in Georgia to hear what can be done for the republic on its way to the EU.
