Azerbaijan expects Armenians to fully honour obligations – roving ambassador

Official Baku expects the Armenian side to fully honour its obligations to disarmament and withdraw its troops from the Azerbaijani territories.

“As for the humanitarian situation, as of yesterday we have created all the necessary conditions for the unimpeded delivery of food, medicine, and other essential items along existing routes through Lachin and Aghdam,” the representative of the Azerbaijani president for special assignments, Ambassador Elchin Amirbayov, said this in an interview with the BBC, Report says.

Amirbayov noted that the day before the Azerbaijani government delivered four trucks loaded with 50 tons of food and medicine to Khankendi, this is in addition to the 50 tons delivered by the Russian peacekeepers, and the local population is supplied with everything necessary, and active work is also underway with the ICRC.

“Both roads through Aghdam and Lachin are open, and this is the main agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Now we need to ensure the confidence of the civilian population that they will receive everything they need: electricity, food, heating, medicine, which the Azerbaijani government was ready to provide,” Amirbayov added.

The presidential representative also commented on the meeting held in Yevlakh between representatives of the Karabakh Armenians and official Baku.

“We did everything possible to explain to the Armenian side what the basic principles, approaches, and areas in which we are ready to ensure rights and a smooth transition and peaceful reintegration of the Armenian population into Azerbaijan."
