Shusha's original appearance preserved in new city plan Statement by President’s special rep
The physical appearance of Shusha city was preserved in its previous form while drawing up a plan for the city.
Aydin Kerimov, special representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Shusha district, made the statement at the 2nd Azerbaijan National Urban Planning Forum in Baku, APA reports.
"We have held consultations with the residents of Shusha city in this direction, and drawn up a relevant master plan. Accordingly, construction of high-rise buildings is not envisaged in Shusha," he said.
Aidyn Kerimov said that special attention is paid to monuments of historical and cultural heritage: "There are about 200 such monuments in Shusha, some of them have been destroyed."
He also noted that the highway connecting Shusha and Fuzuli airport will be ready by the first quarter of next year.
"We plan to fully prepare the entire street infrastructure in Shusha in the next few years," he said.
Aydin Kerimov added that 15 historical monuments have already been restored in Shusha and work on 4 monuments is ongoing.
