Armenian PM clarifies current situation with CSTO
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that there is no Armenian permanent representative to the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).
“There is no Armenian permanent representative to the CSTO. This means that Armenia's relations with the CSTO are frozen,” Pashinyan said while answering an Armenian opposition party member’s question during a parliamentary session, TASS reports.
“Armenia does not participate in high-level events. We have not received an answer from the CSTO yet regarding its area of responsibility in Armenia. The lack of a response creates a threat to Armenia’s security and territorial integrity,” Pashinyan said.
The prime minister noted that Armenia will legally freeze its CSTO membership if the organisation does not fulfill its obligations.
“If we de facto froze our activity, then if the issues are not resolved, we will do it de jure. What else can we do?” he added.
