Azerbaijan, Holy See mull regional situation

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

The meeting discussed issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and the current regional situation, the ministry told Caliber.Az.

The sides hailed the intensification of contacts after the establishment of the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the Holy See, development of cooperation and implementation of joint projects in political, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres. It was noted that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), to be held in Azerbaijan this year, opens additional opportunities for cooperation.

FM Bayramov provided an insight into the post-conflict situation in the region, the current state of the peace agenda and the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
