France preparing provocation against Azerbaijan? VIDEO

Another episode of “Global Discussion” show is dedicated to France’s escalation of the situation in the South Caucasus.

The experts discussed whether France is preparing a new provocation against Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports.

The experts say that by his actions French leader Emmanuel Macron is fueling a new conflict, but cooperation between Paris and Yerevan in the defence sector has its own peculiarities.

Thus, French lawyer, former judge and former first advisor to the French Minister of Justice Olivier Pardo stated that President Macron’s decision to provide Armenia with weapons cannot be accepted by any lawyer.

“France is part of the OSCE Minsk Group [which actually ceased to exist after Azerbaijan liberated its own territories during the 44-day second Karabakh war], that is, the group of mediators between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Now we see how one of the intermediaries begins to send weapons to one of the parties, which is completely unacceptable,” the expert noted.

“Secondly, all international resolutions confirm that Azerbaijan’s actions are legal as Karabakh was occupied by Armenia by force. Azerbaijan's position was to liberate the territories belonging to it. This is similar to the situation when France liberated Alsace and Lorraine, which were once occupied. Thirdly, the moment chosen to confirm this decision is extremely delicate. This is the moment when those who know history, remembered the Khojaly massacre, which is a real ethnic cleansing that has always been hushed up. That's why I regret being French. We can only condemn President Macron’s position,” the expert added.
